Sequart Research & Literacy Organization ist eine nicht-gewinnorientierte Organisation zur Förderung der Anerkennung von Comics als legitimer Kunstform. Ihre Zielsetzung ist dabei zweifältig. Einerseits bringt sie die Forschung der Populärkultur voran, wobei ein besonder Fokus auf comic-relevanten Themen liegt. Sequart veröffentlicht Bücher und Dokumentarfilme, unterhält aber auch Online-Ressourcen um diese Forschung zu fördern. Andererseits will sie zu einer grösseren Verbreitung der Comic-Lektüre beitragen, indem sie das Medium fördert und neue Leser dazu bringt Erfahrungen mit dieser einzigartigen Kunstform zu sammeln.

The World's End ist der dritte Film in der inoffiziellen Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy von Regisseur Edgar Wright. Nachdem sich Shaun of the Dead 2004 dem Horrorfilm und Hot Fuzz 2007 dem Kumpel-Action-Film gewidmet haben, ergründet der jüngste Film aus dem Jahr 2013 das Science-Fiction-Genre und die sich darin wiederholden Topoi etwas genauer. Der vorliegende Text sammelt ein paar lose Gedanken meinerseits zu eben diesem Film. Entsprechend ist der Aufsatz auch kein wissenschaftlicher Text. Die darin angestellten Überlegungen und Beobachtungen bilden aber sehr wohl eine solide Grundlage für einen möglichen zukünftigen, ausformulierten und belegten Aufsatz.

Sequart Research & Literacy Organization is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting comic books as a legitimate artform. Its mission is twofold. First, it promotes research into popular culture, especially comics-related topics. Accordingly, Sequart publishes books, produces documentary films, and maintains online resources that encourage comics scholarship. Second, it promotes comics literacy by promoting the medium and encouraging others to experience the unique artform known as comic books.

After their previous ventures into the horror genre with "Shaun of the Dead" (2004) and the crime-fighting-buddy-action-movie with "Hot Fuzz" (2007) director Edgar Wright and actor Simon Pegg applied themselves to science-fiction and its tropes in the final film of their inofficial "Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy", which is also known as the "Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy". This paper collects some loose thoughts of mine on the aforementioned third movie of the trilogy, which is aptly named "The World's End" (2013). Accordingly, it is no academic text, but an early stage of what might yet develop into one.
